What is blue light?
Blue light refers to light with a wavelength of approximately 400–500 nanometers. It is part of the visible light spectrum and is part of sunlight. Blue light is also found in artificial sources such as LED lights, digital devices, and display screens. Blue light has both benefits and drawbacks.
The benefits of natural blue light from the sun
- Alertness and vigor : Blue light can improve alertness and concentration. It has been used in workplace environments, for example, to increase productivity.
- Improving mood : Blue light has been shown to have positive effects on improving mood and alleviating depression, especially during the winter months.
- Biological rhythm : Blue light affects the body's internal clock and can help regulate sleep patterns, especially during the day.
Disadvantages of artificial blue light:
1. Sleep problems
- Melatonin disruption : Blue light inhibits the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep patterns. Exposure to blue light late in the evening or at night can make it harder to fall asleep and reduce the quality of your sleep. This can lead to insomnia and fatigue the next day.
- Disruption of the internal clock : Long-term exposure to blue light can disrupt the body's internal clock, which can cause problems between sleep and wakefulness.
2. Eye injuries
- Retinal damage : Blue light, especially its shorter wavelengths (such as from LED lights and screens), can cause retinal damage. Long-term exposure can lead to the development of "blue light ischemia," which can increase the risk of eye diseases such as cataract surgery or macular degeneration.
- Digital eye strain : Prolonged use of screens can lead to digital eye strain, which is characterized by symptoms such as eye strain, dryness, redness, and discomfort. This can be caused by glare from blue light.
3. Headache
- Migraine : For some people, intense blue light can trigger migraine attacks or cause headaches. This may be due to photophobia or eye strain caused by blue light.

4. Effect on mood

5. Skin symptoms
- Skin inflammation : Newer studies suggest that blue light can affect the skin and cause inflammatory reactions, which can lead to rashes or worsening acne.
Day or evening glasses?
If you want to take care of your well-being and prevent blue light optimally, we definitely recommend choosing both day and evening glasses.
For blue light prevention purposes, orange lenses may be a bit too effective a blue light blocker when used during the day. That's why we recommend a yellow lens for use during the day, which prevents 84% of all harmful blue light.
If, on the other hand, the most important thing for using blue light glasses is improving the quality of sleep and optimizing the circadian rhythm, then we recommend orange lenses for use in the evening. The orange lens blocks 97% of all harmful blue light and significantly helps the body for better and better quality sleep.
If you only want to go out with one pair of glasses and you need blue light protection both during the day and at night, then we recommend choosing day glasses with a yellow lens. You can wear glasses from morning to night and, as a shift worker, also during night shifts. Although the blue light protection effect of the yellow lens for evening use is not as effective as that of the orange lens, the high-quality 84% blue light protection of the day glasses in the evening is already a significant help towards better sleep.
For hobbies, as an accessory, for driving, for sunglasses and other functions, you can use yellow and orange lenses according to your own preferences! Through both lenses, the world looks wonderfully clear and bright! I have prescription glasses, how can I protect my eyes from the harmful effects of blue light?
If you wear prescription glasses, we recommend our easy-to-install clip-on lenses. All of our clip-on lenses fit amazingly well over different types of glasses.

Order, delivery and payments
We always ship orders within 1-3 business days from our warehouse. Posti delivery usually takes 2-4 days. If your order is delayed, it is worth contacting us at info@northray.fi and we can look into where your shipment is going.
- Most glasses are delivered directly to your mailbox by Posti.
- If your order includes Ilmari glasses, a reading light or a travel light, your product will be delivered to the nearest Posti pickup point.
- Posti delivery time is usually 1-4 business days. Delivery fee for all orders is 4.90,-.
- Will I receive an order confirmation automatically? Yes, it will be sent by email.
- What payment methods do you offer? Payment methods include online banking, credit cards, installment payments, Klarna and PayPal through the secure Paytrail.
Warranty
All our products have a 12-month warranty. If your product breaks within this time for no external reason, we will repair or replace it. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, but not normal wear and tear or damage caused by improper use or care.
Exchanges and returns
Our return policy – easy and worry-free
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. That's why you can try our products for 30 days . If the products do not meet your expectations, we offer one free return or exchange.
Products to be returned or exchanged must be:
- Spotless and clean so they can be reused.
- Includes original storage bags, cleaning cloths, and for light products, sales packaging and charging cable.
Please note that we reuse products returned from customers as display glasses at trade shows, retailers and corporate sales. For this reason, the products must be in good condition and clean. If the returned blue light glasses require cleaning, we will charge a cleaning fee of 14.90 euros .

Refund:
Once we receive your return, we will process it as soon as possible. We will refund the payment to the payment method you used for the original payment. Refunds take 1–5 business days , depending on our payment provider.
