Blue light refers to light with a wavelength of approximately 400–500 nanometers. It is part of the visible light spectrum and is present in sunlight. Blue light is also found in artificial sources such as LED lights, digital devices, and display screens. Blue light has both benefits and drawbacks.

Benefits of natural blue light from the sun

1. Alertness and vigilance: Blue light can improve alertness and concentration. It has been used in workplaces, for example, to increase productivity.
2. Mood improvement: Blue light has positive effects on mood enhancement and alleviating seasonal affective disorder, especially during the winter months.
3. Biological rhythm: Blue light affects the body's internal clock and can help regulate sleep patterns, especially during the day.

Disadvantages of artificial blue light:

1. Sleep difficulties

• Disruption of melatonin production: Blue light inhibits the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep patterns. Exposure to blue light late in the evening or at night can make it difficult to fall asleep and reduce sleep quality. This can lead to insomnia and fatigue the next day.
• Disruption of the internal clock: Prolonged exposure to blue light can disrupt the body's internal clock, which can cause problems with sleep and wakefulness.

2. Eye damage

• Retinal damage: Blue light, especially its shorter wavelengths (e.g., from LED lights and display screens), can cause retinal damage. Prolonged exposure can lead to the development of "blue light ischemia," which can increase the risk of eye diseases such as cataracts or macular degeneration.
• Digital eye strain: Prolonged viewing of screens can lead to digital eye strain, which includes symptoms such as eye fatigue, dryness, redness, and discomfort. This can be caused by glare from blue light.

3. Headaches

• Migraine: For some people, intense blue light can trigger migraine attacks or cause headaches. This may be due to light interference or tension in the eyes caused by blue light.
• Stress and anxiety: Excessive exposure to blue light can lead to increased stress and anxiety, which in turn can increase the incidence of headaches.

4. Impact on mood

• Behavioral symptoms: Although blue light can have positive effects on mood during the day, excessive exposure in the evenings can cause mood swings and increase anxiety or depression. This may be due to reduced sleep quality and its impact on daily well-being.

5. Skin symptoms

• Skin inflammation: Newer studies suggest that blue light can affect the skin and cause inflammatory reactions, which can lead to rashes or worsening acne.

If you want to take optimal care of your well-being and blue light prevention, we definitely recommend choosing both day and night glasses.

For blue light prevention, an orange lens used during the day might be a bit too effective as a blue light blocker. Therefore, we recommend using a yellow lens during the day, which prevents 84% of all harmful blue light.

If, on the other hand, the most important reason for using blue light glasses is to improve sleep quality and optimize your circadian rhythm, then we recommend using an orange lens in the evening. The orange lens blocks 97% of all harmful blue light and significantly helps the body achieve better and higher quality sleep.

If you want to start with only one pair of glasses and need blue light protection both during the day and in the evening, then we recommend choosing day glasses with a yellow lens. You can use the glasses from morning to evening, and as a shift worker, also during night shifts. Although the blue light protective effect of the yellow lens for evening use is not as effective as that of the orange lens, the high-quality 84% blue light protection of day glasses in the evening is still a significant aid towards better sleep.

For hobbies, as an accessory, when driving, for sunglasses, and in other activities, you can use yellow and orange lenses entirely according to your own preferences! Through both lenses, the world looks wonderfully bright and clear! We always ship orders from our warehouse within 1-3 business days. Posti usually takes 2-4 days for delivery. If your order is delayed, please contact us at info@northray.fi and we can together check the status of your shipment.

• Most glasses are delivered directly to your mailbox by Posti.
• If your order includes Ilmari glasses, reading lights, or navigation lights, your product will be delivered to the nearest Posti pickup point.
• Posti's delivery time is usually 1-4 business days. Delivery fee for all orders is 4.90,-.
• Do I automatically receive an order confirmation? Yes, it will be sent by email.
• What payment methods do you offer? Payment methods include online banks, credit cards, installment payments, Klarna, and PayPal, all securely processed through Paytrail.

All our products come with a 12-month warranty. If your product breaks within this period without external cause, we will repair or replace it. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but not normal wear and tear or damage resulting from improper use or care.

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. That's why you can try our products at your leisure for 30 days. If the products do not meet your expectations, we offer one free return or exchange.

Products to be returned or exchanged must be:

• Spotless and clean, so they can be reused.
• Include the original storage pouches, cleaning cloths, and for light products, the retail packaging and charging cable.

Please note that we reuse returned products from customers as display glasses at trade shows, retailers, and in corporate sales. For this reason, products must be in good condition and clean. If returned blue light blocking glasses require cleaning, we will charge a cleaning fee of 14.90 euros.

Refunds:
Once your return arrives, we will process it as soon as possible. We will refund the payment to the payment method you used for the original purchase. According to our payment processor, refunds take 1–5 business days.
